Rapper DRAKE has turned basketball instructor after agreeing to coach an alumni game at the University of Kentucky.

The Best I Ever Had hitmaker has been a longtime supporter of The Kentucky Wildcats, and in 2009 he put on a special performance for the players on their first day of practise.

Drake was made an honorary member of the franchise last season when he was presented with a prestigious national championship ring, engraved with his nickname Drizzy, after the men's college team took home the title in early 2012.

And now the 25 year old will step onto the court and put his gaming skills to the test on 15 September (12) when he coaches the institution's best at the Rupp Arena.

In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "Coaching at Kentucky Sept 15!"
