The BLACK EYED PEAS have appealed to fans to donate money to charity to aid earthquake victims in rapper apl.de.ap's native Philippines.

A 7.6-magnitude tremor struck just off the coast of the island of Samar on Friday (31Aug12), causing power cuts and huge flooding across the eastern Philippines.

The stars reached out to devotees via their Twitter.com page hours later to rally donations for global aid organization the Red Cross.

A message posted on the social networking site reads, "Yo Peabodies (fans), come together to help our brother @apl_de. His homeland has been devastated by floods since the massive 7.6 earthquake. We can all help! Text 'FLOODS' to 90999 to donate $5 to the @RedCross."

And singer Fergie's actor husband Josh Duhamel has also tweeted his support, adding: "My prayers are with@Apl_de's homeland, the Philippines. They've been hit by floods & now an earthquake."

Apl.de.ap took to Twitter later on Friday and wrote, "My homeland was hit by a 7.6 earthquake while already experiencing flooding. Please help!"
