Oscar-winning actor AL PACINO was honored with the inaugural Legend Award at the Los Angeles-Italia Film, Fashion and Art Fest on Sunday (17Feb13) in recognition of his long and successful career.

The Scarface star, who is of Italian heritage, accepted the prize from his friend, veteran broadcaster Larry King, during the ceremony at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theater.

Pacino tells L.A. TV station KABC-TV, "It's a lifetime achievement thing. A legend? OK, I accept, I've been around long enough to accept that! Why not? It's interesting to come and there's no film opening, it's just a festival that I have films in, and so I guess that's a little different, it's a little more tempered, more relaxed."

Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell and two stars of his movie, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro, were also recognized, with Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein accepting the awards on their behalf.

Pulp Fiction filmmaker Quentin Tarantino will also be feted at the ongoing festival on Tuesday (19Feb13).
