Hip-hop superstar 50 CENT has denied allegations of domestic violence following a reported attack on his ex-girlfriend.
The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, has been slapped with five misdemeanours - one for domestic violence and four for vandalism - after police were called to the Los Angeles home of his former lover, Daphne Joy, on 23 June (13).
He is accused of kicking down the door to a bedroom, where Joy had been hiding, and causing over $7,000 in damages.
50 Cent was said to have left the property before cops arrived on the scene, and although he has not been arrested, prosecutors filed charges against him on Wednesday (03Jul13).
The rapper's New York lawyer, Scott Leemon, has been in touch with California authorities to straighten out the situation and he insists 50 Cent is innocent.
Leemon tells the New York Daily News, "Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him. It is important to note Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest...
"(We) are currently conducting our own investigation into these allegations."
He faces up to five years behind bars and a maximum of $46,000 in fines if convicted of the charges. He is expected to appear in court for his arraignment on 22 July (13).
50 Cent is rumored to have fathered a child with Joy last year (12), but he has only publicly confirmed being a dad to his 16-year-old son Marquise with ex Shaniqua Tompkins.
