Super Bowl ad for cheaters featuring porn star rejected

A 30-second television advertisement for a controversial website submitted for air during the Super Bowl has been rejected by FOX.

The ad is for the dating website targeting married individuals seeking extramarital affairs AshleyMadison.com. Though it features adult film star Savanna Samson, it does not mention any specifics about the dating site or even use its racy tag line “Life is Short. Have an Affair.”

FOX said their "Standards & Practices has deemed the Ashley Madison spot is not acceptable to air” on the station.

In a statement released by its marketing firm, AshleyMadison.com founder Noel Biderman calls the ad “seemingly G-rated” and speculates that the use of the adult film star in the commercial led to the rejection.

"Now that so many adult film stars including Jenna Jameson and Sasha Grey have crossed over into the mainstream, it's disappointing that the NFL continues to discriminate against them,” Biderman said. “I wonder if they're planning on restricting Ben Roethlisberger from playing or Rex Ryan from coaching in the big game," he added, presumably referencing allegations of date rape against the Pittsburgh quarterback and videos that have surfaced recently depicting Ryan’s interest in feet.

Though disgruntled, Biderman should be used to the rejection.

In 2009, NBC rejected AshleyMadison.com's Super Bowl ad, though it still managed to air on a local affiliate in Houston, the statement said.
