BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Washington County judge has set a September 23 trial date for a 20-year-old man accused of beating his grandmother to death with a baseball bat.
Brandon Capps was arrested last October and charged with first-degree murder. He's being held on $1 million bond.
A neighbor found his grandmother, 81-year-old Clara Hammer, dead near her front door and called police.
Officers arrived on the scene to find Hammer with head injuries and a bat near her body. Police found Capps in his grandmother's stolen car.
Capps confessed to killing Hammer, as well as stealing her jewelry , shortly after the crime, according to police.
