BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A new star is to join the ranks of the already star-studded cast of “August: Osage County” to begin filming this month in Bartlesville and Osage County.
Joining Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in the John Wells-directed movie is Ewan McGregor, according to an announcement made Wednesday by the Weinstein Company — the studio handling the movie's filming.
The film, based on an award-winning play by Tulsa-writer Tracy Letts, is a story about the dysfunctional Weston family which comes together when their alcoholic patriarch goes missing.
According to IMDb, McGregor will play the role of Roberts' husband. Streep will play Violet Weston, Barbara's (Roberts') mother.
Others listed as members of the cast are Benedict Cumberbatch, Abigail Breslin, Dermot Mulroney, Sam Shepard, Chris Cooper, Juliette Lewis and Margo Martindale.
The movie is set to begin filming on Sept. 24.
