BARTLESVILLE -- Downtown Bartlesville Inc. has seen much growth since its inception more than three years ago. Last week, the organization took a step forward in its endeavor to share all that is happening in downtown Bartlesville with the launch of its website.
DowntownBartlesvilleInc.org launched July 1, and director Chris Wilson says its one focus is anything and everything downtown.
The website was more than a year in the making and funded through a grant from the Bartlesville Redevelopment Trust Authority. Wilson said about a dozen people had a hand in the website’s launch.
“It’s been a very cooperative effort.”
While the website will feature a calendar of events, dining and shopping options and even the best places to park, Wilson said that is only half of the website’s purpose.
“In the past, it has been difficult to present our story to the public, which is more than we can pack into a newsletter. We can now make that information available on a regular basis and also feed it through social media.”
That “story” includes 12 new businesses opening in the last six months alone.

In 2012, Downtown Bartlesville Inc. saw $5 million in private reinvestment, and Wilson said those numbers do not include Hilton Garden Inn or Conoco Phillips invested in their properties.
This year about $500,000 has been invested in the area, but Wilson expects 2013 to double what Downtown Bartlesville Inc. saw in 2012.
“There is about $10 million right now in the planning stages,” Wilson said. “We have a number of projects underway that will be announced in the next month to six months.
“People are taking a second look at Bartlesville for real estate and business."
