DEWEY, Okla. - A Dewey woman accused of child abuse and neglect after police in July found her toddler bruised and three children living in filthy conditions will be in court next month.
Twenty-five-year-old Nola Rechelle Butler on Wednesday in Washington County District Court waived her right to a preliminary hearing and is expected to enter a guilty plea on Dec. 5 when she will be formally arraigned.
She was arrested and 2-year-old, 3-year-old and 7-year-old placed in Department of Human Services custody on July 9 after police called to a residence on the 200 block of E. 10 th Street found a “very distinctive” bruise across the 3-year-old's upper thighs and groin.
According to Dewey Police Investigator Tim Stringer, Butler had struck her 3-year-old son with a belt across the top of his thighs so hard that it left a bruise across the boy's legs and groin. Additionally, officers found the home filthy with dog feces on the floor and Butler's children eating dried instant noodles off the floor.
She is being held in the Washington County jail on $250,000 bond.
