BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A single-car accident Tuesday morning near downtown Bartlesville sent a man to the hospital after he lost control of his minivan and crashed into a tree.
The driver — a middle-aged Bartlesville resident — was transported to Jane Phillips Medical Center for treatment. He is now said to be in stable condition, according to Bartlesville Police Capt. Rocky Bevard.
Police believe a medical condition occurring to the driver caused accident.
Bevard told 2News the accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. when the man apparently suffered a medical issue as he was driving his late model Pontiac minivan westbound on Hensley Boulevard causing his vehicle to go right, over the curb and into the grass. The vehicle continued, crossing Delaware Avenue to the north of Hensley, striking its curb, riding through the grass before striking a tree and coming to rest at an earthen embankment at the Cherokee Avenue bridge.
When emergency personnel arrived to the scene, they found the driver unconscious and unresponsive, according to police.
The man regained consciousness in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, said Bevard.
As police are still investigating the incident, no name has yet been released.
