BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Bartlesville man was arrested Wednesday on a warrant issued in August after he allegedly ran over his estranged wife.
Ernesto Fonseca, 32, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury.
According to the affidavit, Washington County authorities on Aug. 3 were dispatched to Jane Phillips Medical Center where a woman was being treated for injuries related to the incident.
The woman told investigators that earlier that morning Fonseca had picked her up to discuss the title to a vehicle, but drove her out on U.S.-60 east of Bartlesville and stopped on a gravel road near the county line.
She said when Fonseca began to slap her in the face and on her head, she walked around the back of the pick-up at which point Fonseca “put (the truck) in reverse real quick and knocked me down and ran me over,” the woman told investigators.
The woman recounted she quickly rolled onto her stomach and felt the tire run over her. She said she reached out and accidentally grabbed the exhaust pipe, burning her fingers.
According to the report, the woman said she hurt all over and that her chest was “all messed up.” The investigator observed a mark on her chin as well as apparent tire tread marks on her shoulder.
In Washington County District Court on Thursday, the judge set Ernesto's bond to $50,000 and ordered him back for a Nov. 30 appearance.
