George Flickinger is the morning and midday meteorologist for 2NEWS, and he has worked in Tulsa for 10 years. He takes pride in efforting the most accurate local forecast you will find in the morning!
Before his promotion, George was the station's weekend morning meteorologist. He also worked across town at Fox 23 before being hired away by KJRH. He served as the Chief Meteorologist of KTXS-TV in Abilene during the 1990s.
George may be best known for his work "off camera." Since moving to Oklahoma in 2001, he and his wife and have filmed dozens of tornadoes including an EF-5 tornado near Guthrie. You may have see him making cameo appearances on Discovery Channel's "Storm Chasers" series. You can see his storm chasing pictures at www.flickingerweather.com.
In the TV studios, George won "Best Weathercast" awards in Oklahoma and Texas, including a First Place Award for "Best Weathercast in Oklahoma" from the Oklahoma SPJ. He holds both the American Meteorological Society's (AMS) "Seal of Approval" and CBM title. George graduated from Texas A&M University. He is a native of Orange, Texas.
