KJRH 2NEWS Works for You was honored with several top awards at the Oklahoma Associated Press of Broadcasters annual awards luncheon. KJRH 2NEWS Works for You received seven awards including first place in Best News Anchor and Best Special Program; second place in Best Photographer Portfolio and Best Enterprise Reporting; third place in the categories of Best Reporter and Best Solo Video Journalist; and an honorable mention for Best Reporter. The competition was open to stations and reporters from all across the state. The awards were announced Saturday May 4 th at the Oklahoma Associated Press Awards in Norman.
2NEWS Anchor Russ McCaskey was awarded Best News Anchor in the state for the second year in a row. 2NEWS Works for You Against Bullying, a primetime special anchored by Russ McCaskey and Michelle Lowry, took first place for Best Special Program. The half-hour special examined the growing problem of bullying and its brutal impact on our local community and what is being done to prevent it

2NEWS Works for You is proud to have a team dedicated to delivering quality, award-winning news. 2NEWS Reporter Breanne Palmerini and Multimedia Photojournalist John Guthery won second place for Best Enterprise Reporting with their story “Problem with Horses in Oklahoma,” and 2NEWS Multimedia Photojournalist John Guthery also received second place for Best Photographer Portfolio. 2NEWS reporter Brandon Richard received third place for Best Reporter Portfolio. Awards in a Portfolio category are judged collectively on the nominees’ five best stories submitted from the previous year. 2NEWS Multimedia Photojournalist John Guthery also received third place in Best Solo Video Journalist for his submission “Tulsa City County Courthouse Turns Pink.” 2NEWS Anchor Breanne Palmerini received Honorable Mention for Best Reporter.
This is not the first time 2NEWS has received top honors from the Oklahoma Associated Press of Broadcasters. KJRH has been awarded first place for Best Weather Coverage, Spot News and Investigative Reporting. Second place awards have also been received in Best Weather Coverage, Best Special Program and Best Weather Event Coverage. 2NEWS Works for You has also been recognized with several awards from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.
