Sooners loaded with talent despite Griffin's exit

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Here's a sign of how far Jeff Capel has come in building his program at Oklahoma.

As the Sooners prepare to move on after Blake Griffin became the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA draft, Capel has three more McDonald's All-Americans on his roster to try to build on back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances.

Oklahoma was ranked 17th in The Associated Press' preseason poll, which was released Thursday.

Capel credits Griffin for helping with his breakthrough in recruiting, showing high-school prospects that they can come to Oklahoma and become a top NBA draft pick, the college player of the year and perhaps even the face of college basketball.
