Oklahoma starting quarterback Sam Bradford was
expected to hold a news conference Wednesday evening to discuss if he was
going to have shoulder surgery, but delayed the announcement to gather more
information.
Bradford was knocked out of the first game of the season with a sprained
shoulder joint and missed 3 1/2 contests before returning for a 16-13 loss
to Texas in Saturday. Bradford reinjured the shoulder after being sacked in
the first quarter against the Longhorns.
He looked fine in his return the previous week, throwing for 389 yards and one
TD, without an interception in a 33-7 rout of Baylor.
Bradford was expected to be one of the top picks taken had he decided to enter
the 2009 NFL Draft, but the signal-caller opted to defend his Heisman Trophy.
Now a junior, Bradford passed for 4,720 yards with a nation-best 50 touchdowns
and just eight interceptions in 2008. He has connected on 39-of-69 throws for
562 yards with a pair of TDs this season.
Landry Jones took over for Bradford during the Texas game and will start
Saturday when the 25th-ranked Sooners play at No. 24 Kansas.
