Oklahoma starting quarterback Sam Bradford will
remain on the sideline for this upcoming week's battle with No. 24 Kansas,
according to Sooners head coach Bob Stoops.
Stoops did not indicate when Bradford would return after re-injuring his right
shoulder in Saturday's loss to third-ranked Texas. Landry Jones will likely
take over under center for the 25th-ranked Sooners for the foreseeable future.
The reigning Heisman Trophy was sacked by Aaron Williams, who came on corner
blitz with nearly 11 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter. Bradford fell hard
on the shoulder, and got up gingerly before walking off the field. He did not
return.
Bradford was knocked out of the first game of the season with a sprained
shoulder joint and missed 3 1/2 contests in all. However, he looked fine in
his return on October 10, throwing for 389 yards and one TD, without an
interception in a 33-7 rout of Baylor. With his effort, Bradford tied a
school-record for most 300-yard passing games, with 14.
Jones played the second half of the season opener, then started Oklahoma's
games against Idaho State, Tulsa and Miami. He set a school record with six
touchdown passes against Tulsa.
