Pre-season All America pass catcher Dez Bryant has been suspended for the rest of the year by the NCAA, according to OSU officials Tuesday night. Byrant was suspended by the NCAA last month after an investigation revealed Byrant had a meeting with former NFL player Deion Sanders. On the surface this is not a violation, but the fact Bryant lied about his meeting was enough for the NCAA to further its investigation. The NCAA then ruled Byrant should be suspended until further notice, and that further notice came Tuesday with a result that will not allow Byrant to play this season. Byrant and Sanders both deny professional negoitations were discussed. Sanders is rumored to be tied to NFL agents, and has acted as a go-between for possible clients and sports agents. Sanders denies such an arrangement, and called the NCAA incorrect in its assessment of the Byrant situation. Still, Bryant was ruled ineligible for the rest of the season.
OSU officials would not comment further on the announcment. OSU hosts Texas this Saturday night for a 7pm kickoff.
