It's almost here -- the day your television picture will become nothing but static, unless you're ready for the digital conversion.
Over the past year we've met plenty of people in Green Country who've said they were not ready.
In fact, so many people are still unprepared in green country, the federal government has taken notice.
"Tulsa has about 50 percent more unprepared households than the national average," said U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke. "You have about 25-thousand households but about 4 and a half percent are not yet ready for the switch."
Over the past year, the government launched a major campaign aimed at educating viewers about the digital switch.
"I think a lot of people are still confused," said Locke. "They know there's a transition coming but they don't know if their television set is affected by it."
It's really quite simple. If you have an older TV and do not subscribe to cable or satellite, you'll need to buy a digital converter box before Friday, June 12.
"It's really important that if people want to continue to get their favorite programs, news, emergency information, that they get one of these converter boxes," said Locke.
Earlier this year, President Obama pushed back the original February deadline for the DTV switch, with the hopes of giving American's more time to prepare, but this time there will not be another delay.
"No more deadlines," said Locke. "A lot of communities are ready. We're just concerned that Tulsa is a little bit less ready, less prepared than other communities."
Only a few more days to get prepared. Otherwise you'll be looking for other forms of entertainment.
