Police are looking into a possible connection between a homicide victim, the suspect, and the L.E. Rader Center. The victim, 31 year old Jason Woodfaulk, was a guidance specialist at the juvenile center. The suspect, 19 year old Cedric Jackson, was released from the center earlier this year. Tulsa police are still looking for a person of interest, 32 year old Michael Jackson, in connection with the double shooting.
The shooting happened just after 4:30 on Tuesday. It killed one man and left another one wounded. It's leading police on an investigation into what led to the murder. Tulsa Police Officer Jason Willingham says, "We are looking into this being drug related however we are not 100-percent certain."
L.E. Rader Center Superintendent Michael Moriarity says the victim, Jason Woodfaulk, worked at the center as a counselor for nearly 3 years. He adds, " I was shocked. I've been in this business for 27 years and this is the first time I've been in this situation." 19-year-old Cedric Jackson spent time at Rader earlier this year and was arrested on a complaint of first degree murder in the case. Detectives believe he shot Woodfaulk. The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs is conducting an internal investigation into whether the mens' relationship played a role. Officer Willingham says, "Obviously that would provide a motive for the killing."
Authorities are also looking for 32 year old Michael Jackson who is not related to Cedric Jackson. Officer Willingham adds, "We don't know how he was involved in the homicide but we know he is somebody we need to talk to."
Rader staff will have access to counselors to talk about the loss of their co-worker as they wait for answers about what led to his death.
The second shooting victim was taken to the hospital. His condition is not known.
