A local church is making sure Owasso kids don't go hungry.
Volunteers at Open Table Church filled backpacks with food for kids in need.
It's part of a backpack program at Owasso schools.
It started with 15 students last September.
Now, volunteers are helping more than 120 students at eight schools.
Melinda Foster, a Pastor at Open Table Church, said, "I've heard stories in Tulsa that have been kids who have cried on the last day of school knowing that they're not going to have this food during the summer and that its something that they needed so desperately."
