Will you be getting a stimulus check?

Last Update: 7/02/2009 8:09 am
The economic stimulus plan signed by President Obama in February is now in full effect.

But some taxpayers are still confused about what it means for them.

In 2008 many taxpayers received a stimulus check from the government.

Now, many people want to know if they will be getting a check this year.

Depending on your situation, the answer is most likely -- no.

The accountants at Tulsa's Stanfield and Odell tell us checks are only being sent to those who are retired or disabled and some other folks with special cases. Those checks are for $250.

Most people received a tax cut on our paychecks.  It's a reduction of payroll withholding.

It started in April and runs through December and for most people it's a savings of about $10 a week.

That means by the end of the year it will put about $400 in your pocket.

It's much cheaper for the IRS to do it this way, instead of issuing millions of checks.
