What you need to know for the DTV conversion

Last Update: 6/11 9:22 am

Early in the morning on Friday, June 12, Channel 2, and every other station, will turn off analog signals. That means unless you're ready to receive a digital signal, you won't be watching anything on Friday.

Here's what you need to know. The most important note is for those who watch TV with an antenna.

Unless they have a newer TV, they will need to buy a converter box, or subscribe to cable or satellite, before Friday.

Consumers can buy converter boxes at many retailers including Wal-Mart and all electronics stores.

If they already have a converter box, but are still having trouble getting digital signals they may want to invest in a longer range antenna -- one with a reach of 150 miles.

Starting Friday viewers can find Channel 2 on 2.1. The easiest way to find all the channels on Friday will be to run a "scan" or "channel search" on their TV or converter box. That should be easy using the remote.
