Not long after the state's new lemon law was passed, we heard from Dan.
He told us, "My car has now been in the shop for a month for a problem I've tried to get fixed several times. I just heard a new law says a car only has to be in the shop for 30 days to be considered a lemon. I'm trying to find out how the new law will help me."
Sorry Dan, the new Oklahoma lemon law doesn't go into effect until November 1st.
So your car repair still falls under the current law, which says a vehicle must be in the shop for 45 business days for the same repair.
But the new law will reduce that time limit to 30 business days, just as Dan heard.
The other big change in the new lemon law deals with how consumers are paid for vehicles considered to be lemons.
There'll be a new way of calculating how much a manufacturer will have to pay the consumer, if the consumer has put more than 15,000 miles on the lemon vehicle.
And if the consumer is to be given a replacement vehicle, that replacement must be acceptable to the consumer.
And remember, the state lemon law deals only with new vehicles, not used ones.
The law going into effect this fall, doesn't change that.
It'll affect only new cars purchased after November 1st.
