A Tulsa viewer says she was victimized, twice, and feels the Tulsa alarm ordinance left her in even more danger. The rule is an alarm system must be permitted for police to respond.
Denise turned to us after she says her home was broken into twice within an hour!
She says "My alarm company called me both times. They also called police but because I haven't bought a permit for my alarm system police would not respond."
The most important thing to know is if a resident calls police to report a crime police will respond.
If an alarm company reports a possible problem to police officers will only be dispatched if the alarm is permitted.
The reason? Tulsa city officials wanted to cut down on the number of false alarms police run on by requiring homeowners to pay fines if several false alarms come from the same address. Unfortunately this approach has failed according to a police spokesperson.
He says the false alarm rate in tulsa is an incredible 98.6%. Which equals more than 11-thousand police hours a year.
