Canadian researchers looking into why men are drawn to powerful sports cars. Their study finds there is a reason so many men salivate over Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins and Lamborghinis.

Call them mid-life crisis mobiles, the roar of a powerful engine under the hood of a sports car actually raises testosterone levels in the men who drive them.

In the study, 39 men drove a new Porsche 911, followed by a 16-year old Toyota Camry. After each ride, their hormone levels were tested. Results showed significant increases in testosterone while cruising around in the sports car.

Interestingly, the study showed that testosterone levels were unaffected when driving with a woman in the car.

One man called that surprising, but sports car enthusiast Elie Arama said, "I believe it, my girlfriend would vouch for that."
