"If they are hungry, they will eat it." That is the suggestion from a new study into the eating behaviors of children.
Researchers findings may help parents encourage their kids to eat their peas and their pasta, too.
In a series of tests, researchers found children were more likely to eat fruits and vegetables if they were served as a sort of appetizer before mealtime. When they were offered more broccoli, tomato soup, carrot sticks and applesauce, the children ate more.
Another key finding: Kids tended to eat what their parents ate. So, if parents want their children to eat their veggies, they have to, also.
The research was presented at a recent meeting of the Obesity Society in Washington, D.C.
