Restless leg syndrome is to blame for many sleepless nights.
New research shows the disorder affects one group in particular. The University of Missouri study tested almost 200 patients for restless leg syndrome, a condition that causes a strong urge to move the legs while sleeping.
Researchers found caucasian women were four times more likely than african american women to have the condition, but aren't sure of the reason.
They speculate it could be a combination of genetics, diet, and medications.
Scientists think it could also be due to low iron and rheumatoid arthritis, which are both risk factors for RLS. Researchers presented their findings at the American College of Chest Physicians annual meeting.
