During the holiday season, especially in times of financial hardship, some of us dig a little deeper to find a way to help others.

Unfortunately, people with much more selfish motives take advantage of that giving attitude.

Asking for donations to help police, firemen or our veterans can often motivate people to hand over money.

Unfortunately, the cash intended to help good people often ends up in the wrong hands.

The Better Business Bureau has some excellent recommendations on how to avoid fattening criminals' wallets instead of helping those who really need the help.
