Today there are many ways to catch a forecast before you head off on your
next trip. If you have access to the internet you can select any region and get
the National Weather Service forecast by going to: www.nws.noaa.gov
The Weather Channel has one of the most popular web sites on the internet,
they are at: www.weather.com another easy site to navigate for weather
information is: www.weatherunderground.com
There are many newspapers that have forecasts for other areas of the
country. Due to deadlines, some of these forecasts may not be the latest
information available.
We receive hundreds of calls per day to our recorded weather line at
KJRH-TV at (918) 743-KJRH or 5574. On days when the weather creates
slick roads you can call the Oklahoma Road Condition Hotline at:
888-425-2385 for Kansas road conditions: 800-585-7623.
For a price, there are companies who will send you a text forecast and
weather warnings to your phone. One that I have been told is useful can
be found at www.weatherbug.com They charge about $3 per month for
service.
Whatever the source, forecasts are not always correct. So even if the
weather outlook for that weekend trip to Branson calls for sunny weather with
temperatures in the 60s, I like to pack a jacket and an umbrella in the car.
It’s never good for a weatherman to be caught out in the rain.
