Hearing passed for Bartlesville woman accused of lewd acts with teen

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - The preliminary hearing for a Bartlesville woman allegedly caught half nude with a 15-year-old in a tanning booth last June has been postponed.

24-year-old Betsy Ann Brashear, facing a charge of lewd acts with a minor child under 16, on Tuesday in Washington County District Court was ordered back to court on Nov. 28.

The hearing was canceled as her attorney Kristi Sanders was involved in a trial that day.

According to police, the alleged incident occurred on June 21 when officers shortly after midnight were called to Colaw Gym on the 500 block of S.E. Washington Blvd. where a boy had reportedly been in a tanning bed with a woman.

Police arriving to the gym spoke with the mother of boy who said she had just caught her 15-year-old son in one of the tanning rooms with a 24-year-old.

She said earlier she saw Brashear flirting with her son and asked the other gym members to help her keep an eye on the two. Later when one person told her Brashear and her son had been seen going into a tanning room, the mother investigated to find Brashear nude from the waist down and clothed only in a sports bra.

The 15-year-old told police Brashear had talked him into going into the tanning room with her and that she undressed from the waist down, but said they had done nothing but kiss.

Brashear reportedly denied to police she had been nude and said she and the boy had only kissed. Further, she said she knew the teen's age as he had told her.

She told police there was nothing wrong with a little kissing.

Brashear is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
