Election Board: Voter registration deadline Friday for Bartlesville, Skiatook school elections

The deadline is Friday for those wanting to register to vote in the Bartlesville and Skiatook public schools elections set for Aug. 28.

Residents living within the boundaries of the Bartlesville and Skiatook Public Schools Districts have until Aug. 3 to register, according to Washington County Election Board officials.

In Bartlesville, voters will be deciding on two bond proposals totaling slightly more than $12.5 million.

The first proposal at $11.625 million focuses largely on an early childhood center expansion for Richard Kane Elementary and improvements to Custer Stadium. The second proposal, at $1.05 million, would pay for transportation costs, including a number of new buses intended to gradually replace older buses and for five new maintenance pick-up trucks.

Skiatook voters will be deciding on two bond proposals as well — the first for $7.695 million for building construction, improvements, equipment and furniture and the second, $300,000, for transportation costs.

Washington County Election Board Secretary Yvonne House said any United States citizens who are residents of Oklahoma and are at least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters.

Those who have never been registered to vote or who are registered but need to change their name or address must fill out and mail an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application Form to be postmarked no later than midnight, Aug. 3, in order to be able to vote in the coming election.

Application forms are available all post offices, public libraries and tag agencies and at the county election board office, located at 420 S. Johnstone Ave.

Those desiring more information are asked to contact the election board office at 918-337-2850.
