BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Bartlesville man is charged with assaulting a pregnant woman, who later miscarried after police say she was punched in the stomach.
On June 2, officers responded to For Your Convenience gas station where a woman reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
When officers arrived, they found Tameka Baird, who was five months pregnant.
According to the affidavit, Baird said she was meeting Michael Bosworth, with whom she'd broken up the night before, to retrieve her property. When the two began arguing outside the store, Baird said Bosworth grabbed her by the hair and tried pulling her into his vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a bystander approached and told the two they were being recorded by security cameras. Baird said Bosworth took her phone but she got away and made it inside the store.
Police say Bosworth followed Baird inside the store, put her phone on the counter and punched her in the left side of her stomach before driving away.
While Baird was being interviewed at the store, another officer stopped Bosworth and took him into custody.
Baird's injuries were photographed before she was transported by paramedics to the hospital. Days later, police say Baird miscarried.
Bosworth was charged June 9 with felony domestic assault and battery against a pregnant woman resulting in the miscarriage of an unborn child.
