BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Copan mother is behind bars after her toddler tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police arrested 39-year-old Anita Tate Tuesday at a Bartlesville hospital.
According to the police report, Tate took her 14-month-old daughter to the hospital when she wouldn't stop crying.
Hospital officials said the girl had redness around her nose and mouth and tested positive for meth.
Police say Tate, who appeared under the influence, admitted smoking the drug.
"I smoke it, I know I'm white trash...," said Tate, according to the police report. "...Even though I'm a dope head, I love my child."
Police say they found a bag of marijuana in Tate's possession during her arrest.
The toddler was taken into protective custody and Tate is facing charges for child neglect and drug possession.
