WASHINGTON COUNTY, Okla. - A Bartlesville woman died Sunday when her car landed in a creek after a single-car wreck in Washington County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 44-year-old Sherry Hockett was driving her 2007 Toyota Corolla on a county road when she took a curve left of center and encountered another car.
Troopers say Hockett swerved right, ran off the road, swerved left and entered into a broad slide. Hockett's car hit a guardrail and overturned half a time, coming to rest on its top in a creek.
Both Hockett and her husband, 45-year-old Rusty Hockett, were wearing seat belts but she was pinned for about 15 minutes in the water.
Hockett was pronounced dead at the scene from possible drowning.
