Bartlesville varsity pom squad wins National Championship in Florida

TULSA - They left the state as the Bartlesville Bruins varsity pom squad.

They returned Monday with a new name - National Champs.

The girls competed against 25 teams from across the country, including one from Japan, in Florida over the weekend. Only 15 teams made it to the finals.

It didn't look good for the Bruins as they were in sixth place heading into the finals. But that did not stop them as they jumped to the top spot and claimed the national championship.

It's the first national title for the team, and the school district.

They have won a state title in the past.
