Bartlesville to hold casting call for 'August: Osage County' movie

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A casting company in Tulsa last weekend seeking extras for the upcoming movie "August: Osage County" will be in Bartlesville this weekend looking for individuals to fill non-speaking roles.

Freihofer Casting will hold an open call for the movie from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bartlesville High School, located at 1700 S.E. Hillcrest Dr.

Starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts and based on an award-winning play by Oklahoma's own Tracy Letts, the movie is about the dysfunctional Weston family which comes together when their alcoholic patriarch goes missing.

Directed by John Wells, the movie will begin filming around the end of September in and around Osage County. Its production crews will be based in Bartlesville.

According to Friehofer Casting, movie makers are looking for extras ages eight and up. They ask those attending the open call to provide contact information and clothing sizes, and allow a photographer to take their pictures — a process that should take only a few minutes.

Those selected as extras during the next few months will be given 24 to 72 hours.

Email submissions can be sent to and hard copies to August Extras c/o Freihofer Casting, 3750 W. Main St., Five Park A, Norman, OK 73072.

Those wanting more information are asked to not call the high school but rather to call the casting hotline at 405-310-4391.
