Bartlesville police: Man shoots fireworks at people, car

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Bartlesville man is free on bond following his arrest Thursday for allegedly shooting fireworks at six people and a car in a grocery store parking lot.

Christopher Taylor, 18, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and third-degree arson.

According to the case affidavit, shortly before midnight police were called to the Food Pyramid grocery store, where a fire had started due to Taylor's firework activity.

The original report to police was Taylor had thrown a mortar-style firework and the firework struck a vehicle as it exploded. The explosion was said to have ignited a fire that burned some trees on the north side of the store's parking lot.

Police arriving to the scene spoke with Taylor who reportedly admitted to shooting a Roman candle-style firework at the vehicle and alleged victims. Police confiscated a firework they found in the back seat of a vehicle next to Taylor where they first spoke to him.

During his appearance in Washington County District Court on Thursday, the judge set his bond to $10,000 and ordered him back for a July 13 court appearance.

Taylor posted bail the following day.
