BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A 30-year-old Bartlesville man is accused of molesting an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old.
Adam Clayton Horton was booked in at the Washington County jail Tuesday after being arrested on charges of first degree rape and lewd molestation.
According to police, the investigation began on July 16 following a report made by the girls' parents that Horton had touched their two daughters inappropriately, their 8-year-old on July 8 and their 5-year-old, the same day of the report.
During forensic interviews conducted with the two girls on Monday, the 8-year-old reportedly told investigators how Horton had locked her in his bedroom, touched her inappropriately and forced her to touch him, according to the affidavit.
The 5-year-old reportedly told investigators Horton has touched her inappropriately as well.
When police spoke with Horton, he reportedly denied being alone with the girls and having his and their pants off.
He told police the two girls had spent the night July 8 and that while he usually works the night shift on Sunday night, he called in sick that night.
Horton reportedly described how once he had been wrestling with the children and was trying to get them off of him when he accidently touched them in the crotch area. He said he told them then it was an accident and he apologized.
When police told him exactly of what he had been accused, he told the officers he was surprised by the severity of the allegations adding that he had been accused in the past of molesting someone, "but that it was only touching."
"That's not my MO," he reportedly told police in response to the rape and molestation allegations.
During Horton's appearance in Washington County District Court on Wednesday, the judge set his bond to $500,000 and ordered that he have no contact with any minor children.
Horton is due back in court Thursday.
