Bartlesville has poured about $3.5 million into renovations and development in the past three years and brought a number of new businesses to the area in that time.

Organizers expect thousands from all over the state to be drawn to the city's main corridor June 14 and 15.

"The artwork is part of an overall plan to rejuvenate downtown so we work on renovating buildings and bringing in new business, but also generating foot traffic," Chairman of Downtown Bartlesville Mark Haskell said. "It is part of pulling people in and bringing them into downtown to see what's going on and hopefully they will spend a little money and come back."

Jan Brieschke, a Chicago native, has been in Bartlesville more than 20 years. In previous years, Brieschke would travel across the country to display her art at shows and festivals like Art Walk.

"I love that this is just five miles from my home," she said.

Businesses owners say they are also loving the foot traffic that event like this brings.

"It's wonderful," said Jennifer McKissick. "We are still trying to get the word out about what we are doing. It this definitely helps."

Art Walk runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Visit for more information.
