2NEWS Today Anchor Erin Christy will be moving to weekend mornings and Deana Silk will now be seen weekday mornings from 5 to 7 a.m. on 2NEWS Today.
Erin and Deana have been anchoring their current newscasts for five years and four years respectively.
"We are thrilled to be able to make this change with our existing talent," says 2 Works for You News Director Steve Weinstein. "Both Erin and Deana are Oklahomans, born and raised, and their long running success in their current roles will undoubtedly translate and further strengthen 2NEWS Today and 2NEWS Weekend Mornings as the most competitive morning shows in Tulsa."
Deana joined 2 Works for You as a reporter in January 2005 and was promoted to 2NEWS Weekend Morning Anchor in March 2007. She was born and raised in Alva, OK and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. She started her broadcasting career at KSWO in Lawton, OK before joining 2NEWS.
Deana spends her free time volunteering as a "Big Sister" for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Green Country. She also enjoys running, waterskiing, tennis and of course watching her Sooners play football.
Erin started at 2NEWS as a morning news reporter in 2003 and was quickly promoted to weekend evening news anchor and then to her current anchor role on 2NEWS Today. Erin grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and also lived in Claremore and Weatherford. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Journalism and began her broadcasting career as morning anchor and consumer reporter for WMDT, the ABC affiliate in Salsbury, MD.
Erin is an animal lover and is on the board of directors for the Humane Society of Tulsa. She loves being outside, enjoys the theatre, crossword puzzles, music, movies, long-distance running, and spending her free time with her husband and daughter and her bull mastiff, Maya.
Starting Monday August 8, Deana Silk will join co-anchor Justin Wilfon and Meteorologist Julie Chin on 2NEWS Today weekdays from 5 – 7a.m. and 2NEWS Midday from 11a.m. to noon.
Beginning August 13, Erin will join Meteorologist George Flickinger on Saturday and Sunday on 2 News Weekend Mornings.
This move comes at an exciting time as NBC's Today Show recently promoted Ann Curry as Matt Lauer's new co-host in the mornings, along with Natalie Morales and Al Roker.
